Rostelecom taps Huawei for iODN

Huawei is claiming to have deployed Russia’s first intelligent optical distribution network (iODN) for Rostelecom.

The network, which was deployed in Kraj, is designed to provide super service experience to broadband subscribers.

Huawei said that Rostelecom was planning to maintain its competitive advantage through a FTTH roll-out but was concerned over the efficiency and operations and maintenance (O&M) of fibre network infrastructure.

The vendor’s solution is designed to address these issues through improved resource management. It will also support real time monitoring of network construction progress, adjustment of fibre links and offers a quality assurance mechanism.

"The iODN network deployed by Huawei is great. It simplifies the O&M of fibre networks, helping us deliver high-quality services and lower O&M costs." said Konstantin Korolev, CTO at Rostelecom's Perm branch.
