Sidera Networks building new content entity

Sidera Networks has confirmed to Capacity that it is in the process of building a separate division for content and has already contacted a number of high-profile potential content customers.

The company has made a strategic decision to increase its focus on content applications and data as more content players seek managed solutions from network providers.

Sidera, which underwent a review of its business in January, brought in a new management team and found internally that it had the potential to sell its services to new players in the market.

Scott Levy, VP carrier sales at the company, told Capacity that there has been an increasing buying trend among content companies and data centre providers for network solutions, which could effectively see greater collaboration between the two segments.

“These companies require things like dark fibre, SONET services and dedicated Ethernet services, but they do not have the expertise to manage it, we do,” he said. “Each content company operates different applications and they need to be as close to data centres and fibre as possible, which we can provide.”

Sidera’s new division is further intended to enhance the strategic partnership it has with data centre providers, and understand the requirements of content companies that are being housed in these data centres.

Levy said the content unit of Sidera’s business will be ready early next year.
