Inmarsat sees growth following broadband investment

Satellite operator Inmarsat posted a 5% Q3 revenue increase after the company was boosted by its global broadband proposition.

The company said it has taken its installed base to 32,000, after adding over 2,000 broadband terminals in the quarter.

Its earnings, excluding its venture with LightSquared to create a new US mobile network using Inmarsat’s spectrum, was posted at $161 million, with revenue on the same basis at $322 million from a year ago.

Reuters says Inmarsat was expecting to report group revenues of $320.2 million and core earnings of $163.4 million.

According to the company, its Q3 results mean it is positioned well to meet revenue targets for this year and next.
