AT&T and T-Mobile USA enable roaming agreement for hurricane hit areas

AT&T and T-Mobile USA have signed a roaming agreement which enables customers to access both companies' networks in areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Subscribers will be able to gain coverage to either network where capacity is available and the consumer has a compliant device.

They will be able to place calls as per normal, but the calls will only be carried by whichever network is most operational in the area.

There will be no change to present rate plans or service agreements, and the agreement is irrespective of whether the device is attached to the other carrier’s network.

Both companies use network technology on GSM and UMTS standards, further allowing for voice and data traffic sharing.
