du launches carrier neutral transit and content hub

UAE-based carrier du has launched a carrier neutral transit and content hub to provide interconnection for international carriers, content and service providers in the Middle East.

Datamena will offer customers “a secure ecosystem of space, connectivity, infrastructure and expertise, to help them grow across the Middle East and the world,” according to du, offering solutions including bandwidth, co-location and IP transit.

The UAE-based platform is claimed to already have a “substantial” number of customers and partners.

“As more people adopt digitally-enabled lifestyles, carriers and content and service providers look to optimise their data storage and connectivity capabilities to improve customer experience in the region. Our solutions enable our clients to expand their footprint from a location where some of the fastest-growing markets in the world intersect.” said Osman Sultan, CEO at du. “The introduction of Datamena extends the UAE’s position as the region’s primary centre for people, logistics, finance and trading, to the digital space.”

The site also hosts the recently launched UAE Internet Exchange (UAE-IX) managed and operated by Germany’s DE-CIX.
