Ericsson acquires ConceptWave to strengthen OSS/BSS offering

Ericsson has strengthened its OSS and BSS portfolio with the acquisition of Canadian order management and product catalogue specialist ConceptWave for an undisclosed sum.

Toronto-based ConceptWave provides solutions to better support network operators with activities related to personalising end-user offerings and revenue management solutions.

The company’s customers are mainly telecoms operators in Canada, the US, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

"There is a trend towards more personalisation of services where end users want to purchase communications services meeting their individual needs. This puts high demand on telecoms operators to be able to offer flexible product bundles with customised pricing packages. In this area, ConceptWave's solutions and employees' expertise adds considerable value to Ericsson's portfolio," said Elisabetta Romano, head of OSS in Business Unit Support Solutions at Ericsson.

Ericsson said that through the ConceptWave acquisition, and that of Telcordia in January, it has the industry’s most comprehensive OSS/BSS portfolio.

"Our products and solutions help maximise telecoms operators' assets through the creation, implementation and automation of service fulfillment processes for new and differentiated offerings. Joining Ericsson today adds great value to ConceptWave, as we become part of their global organisation and leverage their industry-leading technology and services competence," said Zarar Rana, president and CEO of ConceptWave.

ConceptWave was founded in 2000 and has 170 staff.
