Zayo to fully acquire USCarrier

Zayo Group has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the remaining shares of USCarrier, a fibre provider based in the South East of the US, for $13.5 million.

The acquisition will bolster Zayo’s US fibre network in states of Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Zayo first procured a 50% stake in USCarrier through its acquisition of American Fiber Systems in October 2010.

"Extending the reach of Zayo's network with USCarrier's footprint allows us to offer broader solutions to our customers as well as deliver end-to-end national and international connectivity to these markets," said Glenn Russo, EVP for corporate strategy and development at Zayo Group. "The transport services that USCarrier provides fit well with Zayo's focus on core high bandwidth services."

USCarrier’s assets include a 3,700 mile regional fibre network connecting to Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Nashville, and Chattanooga as well as 40 smaller cities throughout the Southeast.

The company provides wholesale transport services such as Ethernet and Wavelengths to a variety of telecoms service providers.

The acquisition will make USCarrier the latest in a long line of US fibre companies to fall under the Zayo umbrella, and follows the completion of the company’s acquisition of AboveNet at the beginning of July.
