Deutsche Telekom looking for M2M growth

Deutsche Telekom’s newly launched international marketplace for M2M will serve as a catalyst for growth in the market, according to Júrgen Hase, head of competence centre M2M Deutsche Telekom.

Hase told Capacity magazine the company’s investment in an online portal for M2M solutions was made because “everybody expects an M2M boom in the coming years, but the solutions still faced a number of obstacles”.

M2M has been a focal point for investment for many large scale companies, but Deutsche Telekom claims it is the first company that is addressing the market’s high level of heterogeneity. Hase added the portal should increase cooperation between large numbers of M2M players competing with similar goals.

“Our market place will bring together all these players for the first time, which means we are creating a platform that not only makes it fast and easy to do business around the world, but also helps to generate solutions,” said Hase.

The M2M marketplace includes buyers from various sectors and sellers serving as providers of software, mobile applications and hardware manufacturers. The sellers are able to register their products for availability to a global audience, Hase claims that, while the German telco giant charges a fee for each completed transaction, “our main interest is to boost the M2M market and intensify the solutions business”.

Hase confirmed to Capacity the company was still looking for sellers that have established a finished product in the M2M sector.
