Verizon expands enterprise network into Africa and the Middle East

Verizon has expanded its global enterprise network to six additional African countries, and Bahrain and Qatar in the Middle East.

The expansion will allow more effective exchange of data and global business applications for customers with locations in these emerging markets.

Verizon's African expansion comes through its global multiprotocol label switching network, and network alliance provider Vodacom Business, allowing Verizon enterprise customers access to private IP services in Gabon, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

These six additional markets bring Verizon’s private IP service coverage to a total of 21 countries on the African continent. The company is also offering professional consulting services in the region to help customers design and implement their own networking solution.

“This expansion further demonstrates our commitment to this emerging region and meeting the evolving requirements of our multinational business and government customers. Expansive network services like Verizon’s Private IP will play a central role in creating global connections between people, machines and their environments, and contributing to business and societal progress,” said Martin Burvill, VP of enterprise sales for EMEA.
