Adding approximately 15,000 sq ft, to its 185,000 sq ft data centre facility, the company said its Network Access Point (NAP) is now one of the largest data centres in the region.
“Our main focus in expanding our São Paulo data centre is to provide local customers with a secure, highly available hosting environment for their mission-critical applications,” said Hugo Zanon, general manager of Verizon’s Brazilian Terremark operations. “The NAP offers our multinational customers a globally connected facility they can leverage as they deploy IT resources needed to tap the growing Brazilian and Latin American markets.”
Terremark said the expansion in Brazil is part of its global strategy to develop IT infrastructure services in its network of up to 50 strategically located data centres, with Verizon supporting much of the new investment. According to the company, the NAP has become an important internet exchange point in Latin America, and provides a range of connectivity to the largest carriers in the region. It has also collaborated its cloud computing infrastructure with Verizon’s solution to leverage this platform to its customers across Brazil, Columbia and the Dominican Republic.
