Enterprise telepresence and video conferencing market to double by 2015

Revenue from enterprise video conferencing and telepresence systems is predicted to double to $5 billion by 2015.

Revenue from the market grew 18% in 2010 to $2.2 billion, according to Infonetics Research.

Equipment used to create telepresence services will see different rates of growth due to price and function. Multi-purpose room systems account for the majority of enterprise video conferencing equipment due to their versatility. Immersive telepresence systems are expected to gain the highest growth rates of all video conferencing equipment.

Cisco’s acquisition of Tandberg in 2010 drove it to the top of the enterprise video conferencing market, with 50% of total revenue last year. Polycom holds second position in terms of revenue, but leads in the number of units shipped. The companies to benefit most will be those that offer multi-modal and visual solutions and support collaboration requirements of international businesses.
