Russia and Poland agree on roaming rates

Russia and Poland are to sign an agreement to reduce mobile roaming rates between the two countries. The signing is scheduled to happen this May.

Russia has recently been in discussions with Finland to reduce roaming rates for Russian mobile users. There are predictions with these talks opening up, and gaining success, that roaming tariffs on Russian networks will see a significant reduction to prices.

The discussions were held by each country’s Communications Administrations in Krakow, Poland. The talks were part of Russia and Poland’s intergovernmental commission talks on economic cooperation. Their purpose was to cover the need to reduce tariffs but also to ensure they comply with EU regulation standards. The talks also covered the issue of spectrum which is to be covered in another meeting at the end of the third quarter 2011.
